Technical aspects

The videos uploaded on the platform use the IPFS protocol. It allows files to be stored in a distributed network without a central authority or a central server. IPFS is a peer-to-peer protocol where each node stores a collection of hashed files.

The files that host the files are not known in the IPFS. Access to files is strictly hash-based. To prevent unauthorized access to data or abuse by its own IPFS host nodes, the stored data will be completely encrypted.

Each user who views clips will donate a small portion of the processing power to mine Ethereum. They will be rewarded with cryptocurrencies to host content for longer periods. The Refine Medium is self-supporting. As more and more users are using the platform, more computing power will be available. The more it grows, the more node owners are motivated to store more data.
